Most significantly, the city combines a low cost of living—approximately 28 percent below the national average—with inexpensive housing options. Toledo's real estate market was voted the finest in the nation in 2024. Presently, typical property prices around $116,000, therefore appealing to several budget-conscious seniors.

Despite the increase in housing prices, they remain much more inexpensive compared to other regions in the nation; the typical home price in the Mahoning Valley is $178,000.
